Shri A. R. Joshi, General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, is presently on deputation with the IDRBT as Faculty. Prior to joining IDRBT in January 2006, Shri Joshi was Director in the Department of Statistical Analysis and Computer Services (DESACS), Reserve Bank of India. As Director, he headed the Statistical Analysis and Forecasting Divisions at the Central Office and subsequently the Chennai Regional Office of DESACS, RBI.
He was part of the core team for the RBI’s data warehouse project, which conceptualized, managed and completed the data warehouse project - Central Data Base Management System (CDBMS). The data warehouse has subsequently grown into the full-fledged Data Base on Indian Economy, available to public through RBI’s website.
Prior to that he has developed an electronic reporting system for foreign exchange transactions, which has since completely replaced the paper based reporting. He was also associated with large-scale data processing and related IT projects on various platforms for nearly 10 years.
Shri Joshi has M. Sc. (Statistics) from Nagpur University, Diploma in Development Policy and Planning from the Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi and is also a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB).
